
In a perfect world, one would have enough time to work and enjoy life. But in reality, work consumes a lot of time that it becomes hard to spend time with family and friends which has an effect on relationships. Therefore a balance has to be created between work and life.
The first tactic is to set goals. Set the goals or tasks you want to achieve daily. If you own a business, you should set how much sales you want to achieve for the day. Similarly, a sales person should set the number of sales target. If you’re a programmer, you should set yourself milestones.
The next tactic is to know when to stop. Setting up goals is easy, but knowing when to stop is hard. Suppose you set up a target of 10 sales for a day, but you see the potential for 5 more and decide to continue working till you achieve them. Putting in the extra effort will stress you further, and reduce the time you could have spent resting or with family.
Third tactic is to be a good time manager. Once you’ve set a schedule, follow it. If you spend time in any unscheduled activity, it is bound to interfere with your scheduled event. The sole purpose of having a schedule is to create the perfect balance.
Fourth tactic is to organize yourself. Organizing will help you evaluate yourself, and analyze which tasks can be eliminated or done by someone else. This will help reduce unnecessary tasks being performed and free up a lot of time.
Fifth tactic is to have a positive mindset. Having a positive mindset will make you cheerful, and will also inspire people around you. You’ll be able to accomplish more with a positive mindset than with a negative one.
Sixth tactic is to make decisions. It will help you decide whether a certain task is beneficial or not. You will make decisions based on its worth. This will bring balance on your life as it’ll free up your time.
Seventh tactic is to reduce work stress. Stress is a major reason for strained relationships; people work more hours, and also bring their work home. They ignore family demands for work which strains their relationship. The best tactic in this case is to look for a new job that will be less stressful and demanding.
Eighth tactic is to travel. Traveling ensures you get to spend time with family and also helps to relax the mind. A relaxed person will work more effectively and the time spent with family will help to bond together.
Ninth tactic is to reduce communication. When you receive unnecessary newsletters and memos regularly, they consume a lot of time, and should be unsubscribed to. This will free up your time which can be spent with family.
Last tactic is to have accountability. This is helpful at the end of the week when you already had set the goals, now you should check and see which were achieved and which not. This will enable you to schedule tasks much better.
Devoting enough time to work and family is important. A balanced life will make your life happier and enjoyable.
